Ethos is expanding its training offerings with the introduction of a new Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course, designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to identify, support, and guide those experiencing mental health challenges.
The Inspiration Behind the Initiative
The idea for this initiative first emerged in 2023 when members of the Ethos team attended a Mental Health First Aid course in Aberdeen. Recognising the value of the training, they saw an opportunity to offer a similar course to clients, addressing the growing need for mental health awareness and support in the workplace and beyond.
With a shared vision, the team undertook the Mental Health First Aid instructor course, allowing them to develop and deliver a comprehensive program. A key focus has been to shape the course material in line with the Ethos approach—ensuring it is engaging, practical, and impactful. As a result, significant time and effort have been dedicated to creating the MHFA Awareness Course, which aims to highlight essential topics and communicate key messages effectively.
Who Will Benefit from This Course?
Both Ethos and its clients stand to benefit from this initiative. The MHFA Awareness Course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to recognise common mental health signs and symptoms. Additionally, it equips them with the tools to offer support and guide individuals toward appropriate resources for further assistance.
By fostering mental health awareness, organisations can create a more supportive environment, helping to reduce stigma and ensure that those in need receive timely and appropriate support.
Spreading the Word
To maximise the reach of this new course, Ethos plans to promote it through its social media channels and direct communication with existing clients. By assessing interest and gathering feedback, the team aims to refine and expand the offering to meet a wide range of needs.
As conversations around mental health continue to grow, training in this area has never been more essential. The introduction of the MHFA Awareness Course reflects Ethos’ commitment to providing valuable, high-quality training that makes a meaningful impact.
