Throughout 2023, Ethos has been closely working with NEO Energy to enhance safety practices through Task Risk Assessment (TRA) training. Our partnership has focused on ensuring that everyone involved in NEO's projects understands and communicates about risk in the same way. This shared understanding is vital for the success and safety of their operations.
How Ethos Has Supported NEO Energy
NEO Energy approached us with a specific need: they wanted to integrate TRA training into their "Walk 2 Work" project induction. Their goal was to establish a common language and understanding of risk among both the core personnel and the project team. By doing this, they hoped to foster a stronger, more unified team that could work together safely and efficiently.
At Ethos, we have extensive experience in delivering engaging and effective training and inductions. After discussing NEO’s needs, we recommended a focus on several key learning outcomes for their induction programme:
- Understanding NEO’s Values: Emphasising the importance of a "One Team" approach.
- Learning from Past Campaigns: Ensuring that lessons learned are applied to current and future projects.
- Developing a Common Language of Risk: Creating a shared understanding of key safety terms and practices.
- Providing Practical Tools and Skills: Training on how to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls within NEO's work processes.
- Focusing on Key Scopes of Work: Understanding the timeline, risks, and controls for critical tasks.
- Enhancing Communication Skills: Equipping team members to hold effective safety conversations during Toolbox Talks and Safety Interventions.
These workshops, attended by 20-30 delegates each, helped establish a "one team" culture before teams even set foot offshore. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive—they appreciated the opportunity to collaborate and build relationships before beginning their work.
